The original deck had settled noticeably at one corner — the footings had been set shallow into soft delta soil and had gradually sunk. We removed it entirely, took new footings down to adequate bearing, and rebuilt in composite with a covered section anchored for the wind that comes off the Strait. All hardware was specified stainless because of the salt air. The deck is level, and it will stay level.
